About the Website |
This website runs under the Linux operating system, using Apache webserver software. It represents the beginning of a long-term commitment to implementation of free software throughout the organization.
Our privacy policy is simple: we collect no personal data on this site.
We'd like to thank the following individuals and organizations for helping to make ICON's presence in cyberspace possible:
- Chuck Moss, who donated many hours of his time and his unsurpassed skill to make possible a substantial upgrade to our internet presence; the new servers came online June 25, 2002.
- Sharron Milask, Andy Gerberich, and all the folks at Idea*Tech Associates in Old Town Alexandria, for their long-term support of ICON's computer-related projects, and their help in securing donations of used computers which have made it possible for dozens of people to get online.
- Miles Oliver and the folks at The Legnem Group, Inc. for their continuing donations of computer equipment.
- The Virginia Board for People with Disabilities, which provided the funding which helped to create the first incarnation of this website.
- Brendan Vila, who expanded our vision of what was possible, and who, along with Chris Costakis, Charlie Misner, and members of the Northern Virginia Linux Users Group, provided the technical expertise needed to build our first Linux-based internet server in the fall of 1998.
